Dr. Ayodeji Daramola:

The only imagination of you I can have now, is that you are laughing at and mocking those who only succeded in killing your body but cannot kill your soul. Their guns and bullets and knives can only harm your flesh but the good work you have done remains eternally untouchable and untarnishable. They have only made you a hero in the likes of Adekunle Fajuyis but they have become cowards, traitors and murderers.  They succeded in not allowing you to be our governor for maybe 8years, but you have become the governor Ekiti never had for ever. To the immediate family and friends of Dr. Ayodeji Daramola I say, weep not for a good man when he passes on without a soul torment. Weep for those whose soul will be in greatest torment for the evils they have done. Yes, as Sheakespeare put it, the good that men do lives after them but the evils of the wicked and evil men are interred with their body and bones.
Sunre Ayo, Ayo Sunre!!!! And be assured that you have not died in vain. Be assured that you have your friends, brothers and sisters who will keep the candles of hope of a brighter, beautiful, peaceful, better and corruption free Ekiti burning. And most importantly, as a fighter you are here for a good course, keep the fight there and we promise not to let you down here. We will keep the fight on untill all your killers are brought to justice. Ayo, the greatest memorial to you, will be to take Ekiti state to your dream lofty heights of peace, prosperity and abundance of good life not only for the governors as we have it now but for the governed.
We all love you, we know that the LORD loves you more.

Ayo, Sunre, Odigba, Odojo Ajinde!!!!!!!

I worked at Ijan Ekiti District Hospital in 1980. This is a big loss to such a peaceful Town and Beautiful people. I join the Ijan sons and daughters to pay my condolence to your family. Your untimely death is unwarranted. Death is a desideratum. Even your killers will one day die. Ignorance is a terrible disease worse than death. Now that you are free from the the pain and agony of this wicked world: Sun re o! Close

Untimely departure of Dr. Daramola  / Ojo Ojo(otunparaoko) (country man )

The passed away of Dr. Daramola one of the Ekiti golden sons is a fatal lost to the Ekitis in particular and to the whole world in general. I don't have the opportunity to meet with you, but since you left I have heard a lot about the good work you did in your life time. Particularly that part of your life you dedicated to help others. As one the individual who appreciate values and struggle to make a better difference in the life of others I mourn your untimely departure. Your good work will continue to linger forever. And those killers who stop you from achieving your dream will face the anger of God in short time. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

DEATH IS ONLY A HORIZON AND A HORIZON IS ONLY THE LIMIT OF OUR SIGHT. I CONSIDER THE VANITY OF GRIEVING FOR THOSE WHOM WE MUST QUICKLY FOLLOW, IT IS A MATTER OF TIME AND OF NO CHOICE.

I PRAY AND KNOW THAT THE PERPETRATOR(S) OF THIS BARBARIC, HIGH LEVEL CRIME WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED. HE (THEY)WILL SURELY FALL INTO SHAME, JAIL AND UNTO AN ETERNAL FIRE IN HELL. EKITI WILL BE SURELY LIBERATED BY YOUR UNTIMELY DEATH- A MAJOR SACRIFICE INDEED. YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN WILL RECEIVE DIVINE FAVOURS AND BLESSINGS AS THEY CONTINUE WITH LIFE. THOSE OF US LEFT IN EKITI WILL MISS YOU AND BE ASSURED THAT WE ARE RATHER EMPOWERED AND EMBOLDENED TO CONTINUE THE GOOD WORKS YOU HAD STARTED. ADEIU SLEEP ON.

BRUTAL DEATH  / Larry Oyims (no)
Daramola's death is a sad reminder of our politicians' attitude to power. The Nigerian  leadership perception of power is  brutish, gory and a throwback to nature. Democracy will remain  unattracctive to the masses and to those who have a genuine interest to save the masses from the irongrip of political mediocres so long as people like Daramola  are killed.

I believe that your death came when you did not expect, during your preparation for the re-building of our state.Your death is similar to the shakesparean Macbeth when king Duncan was murdered because of his evisaged enthronement as the King.
Those who killed you have murdered the sleep and they shall sleep no more.May your ghost continue to haunt them until thay are exposed to  the whole world and the wrath of sword, gun and daggers never depart from their domains.
May your soul rest in peace.

Ayo, you dreamed the dream
You fought the battle of life
You worked the dream
You accomplished a lot for your Ekiti people

We lived, ate and drank together at COSTAB
We both enjoyed the escapades of youth
Never had the opportunity to see you when I was in Lagos
Never knew that we shall never meet again on this side

Cold death has taken you away
Positive ambition has been cut down
Betrayed by political associates
Rare gem of a man is lost

Shame to those who plot death
Hell is their potion.
Ressurection day will be glorious
And eternal rest is yours in Jesus name.

The great fighter, words are not enough to describe my grief. I am consoled that you are the Victor as peace is yours now.  Peace eternal be yours, my friend. Good night.

Dr. Ayo Daramola was an asset to us in Ekitiland  / Adebobola Adeyemo

Back in the days, I happened to be the Profit Centre
Manager (PCM), Public Sector Group (PSG) for Standard
Trust Bank, Ado - Ekiti, before I left Nigeria for
studies abroad. During this period, I met Dr. Ayo
Daramola (pls permit me to refer to him as a perfect
gentleman) through the then Governor of Ekiti State,
Otunba Niyi Adebayo, who was his friend.

Due to the nature of my work, I was in charge of all
Govts (Fed, State & Local) accounts, its Ministries,
Agencies, Parastatals, including all NGOs in Ekiti.
Though Dr. Daramola's Programme of which I intended to
be a partner in progress did not take-off till I left
Nigeria, I discovered whenever we were rubbing minds
on the way forward for Ekiti that this man had
something "great and tangible" to offer.

This man's activities and contributions towards the
development of Ekitiland were closely monitored by me
over the years, and I must say, I am overwhelmed and
highly humbled by his antecedents. I hope that his
killers will be exposed and brought to justice, and I
equally pray that the Spirit of God will search all
the nooks and crannies of our land for a leader that
has the fear of God in his heart (amen).

A Dirge for Dr Ayo Daramola  / Tunji Ogunjobi (Fellow Ekitiman )
Goodbye Ekiti rose;
may you ever grow in our hearts.
You were the grace that placed itself
where lives were torn apart.
You called out to EKITI state,
and you whispered to those in pain.
Now you belong to heaven,
and the stars spell out your name.
And it seems to me you lived your life
like a candle in the wind:
never fading with the sunset
when the rain set in.
And your footsteps will always fall here,
along Ekiti greenest hills;
your candle's burned out long before
your legend ever will.

Odi gbere odi arin nako
Otun di oju ala
Sun ree oo, rest in the heart of the Lord.
To your killers and co-sponsors, heavenly judgements await them.

No Man deserves death at the hands of another  / Franklyne Emmanuel Ogbunwezeh (Humanity)
No man deserves to be killed by another. We owe our lives to no man. Those who think we owe our lives to them, and pursuant to that crooked vision deprived us of them ought to know that no man can play God and succeed in that enterprise.

This tribute arose from the fact that the death of everyman diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind (John Donne)

It remains an indictment of reason, that Nigeria smothers her best, and canonizes her worst. It bleeds the heart that Nigeria massacres her brightest, and celebrates her rogues. This is why a man who left his thriving vocation abroad to “ask what he can do for his country”, gets bullets and death as readymade answers to his patriotic quests. It stifles reason that in Nigeria, those who murdered sleep snore and slumber in their iniquity, while their victims lie in death; mangled by human wickedness; while the State that is statutorily empowered to protect us looks on in sheepish inaction. It frightens that Nigeria is now a jungle, where might has been elevated to right; where every shade of predator is allowed leeway to spring and terminate the life of the lesser ones around him

Ayo Daramola, this is a coin of tribute to your memory. Your patriotism is your salvation. May you sleep in peace!!! They only killed your body. That is their worst. They can never erase your memory from history. That is their failure.
Sleep on brother!!!
